Glad to know it worked Wings - I figure I can deal with the discomfort if it fixes the problem... also, the way the doctor describes it, it sounds less invasive and not so bad.

Sinus Surgery
by Princess Daisy Boo inso i had results back on my ct scan and the ent doc has recommended that i have surgery, he reckons it will definitly put an end to my recurrent infections and awful headaches.. i am thinking it is probably a good idea, but then again, it is surgery and that is not so cool... any experiences or comments?.

I joined Weight Watchers today!
by Princess Daisy Boo ini am a bit of a yo yo dieter - i have been dieting ever since i was a teenager, and my role model for this was my mom of course.
in fact one of my very early memories of going shopping with mom and her buying a diet shake mix.
well... i have a little girl who is almost three and i have been thinking about things and i really need to break this cycle of crash diets, losing 5 kgs and picking up 10 once i have lost motivation.

Thanks Joanna and Little Blue... I really appreciate the comments.
I actually wouldnt mind working as a leader once I have acheived this goal.
What amazes me about the cooking is I am eating pretty much what I always did (without the incessant snacking and junk food) but simple things like not using much oil in the cooking process and rather using "Olive Oil Spray" does nothing to lessen the flavour of the food - there are such simple ways to reduce the kilojoule content of food!

Observations about dubs as people...
by Princess Daisy Boo ini was thinking back on some of the people i knew growing up, as well as my own family - many of whom are dubs... tell me what your own experiences are of these kind of people, did you notice a large prevalence of these types of people in the congs you attended:.
1. health nuts: into all sorts of alternative health theories like iridology, reflexology, homeopathy etc?
2. get rich quick folk: always getting involved in this scheme or that, this business or that - especially pyramid type things?.

Thanks for the thoughts folks...
I just wanted to say that with regard to the Alternative treatments theory, I am not against stuff like homeopathy and reflexology at all - I really do believe they have their place in medicine, but there definitly seemed to be more of a trend toward that kind of thing in the congregation that I was in than amongst the people I know now!
I am however not a fan of any MLM scheme - especially Amway - I think that they are a cult within themselves!

If you did notice such a thing, do you thing that there is something in the dub psyche that attracts them to this kind of thing - or did it just happen to be that at that time of my life I was exposed to a coincidentally large number of people with these interests?
Any other commonalities that you could add to this list?

Been to London today!!!
by digderidoo ini haven't been to london in about 15 years.
i decided to take my kids for their first outing to see the sights.
i remember as a kid going with my mom and nan, we actually went inside the houses of parliament, went in the house of lords, up downing st, but now with the terrorist threats obviously all thats changed.. there is a definate difference in the security aspect of it, but not enough to take the shine off the experience.. we saw the changing of the guard at buckingham palace, the band playing were the ghurka regiment, something i have never seen before.

Even old people need to be put in their place!
by LouBelle intoday, at a park restaurant, this old lady saw a young fat lady walking past and started making fun of her with her friends.
the fat young lady saw this and i could see the look of hurt on her face.
i couldn't help myself, i got up went to the old lady and told her she was being hurtful and childish considering her age, and she should grow up!

Lou - this thread made me think of the following poem:
WARNING
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens . . .
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
